YOU can help save Fox Island from invasion!

Invasive plants such as honeysuckle, autumn olive, and multiflora rose are out-competing our native wildflowers and tree saplings. We need YOUR help to get to the “root” of the problem.

Who: YOU!
What: Honeysuckle Daze 2019
Where: Fox Island County Park
When: Late October, 2019 (Check back here when the date becomes official)

We will be removing honeysuckle and other invasive species under the guidance of park staff. First we will cut the invasive plants down, and then we will treat the roots with chemicals so they don’t grow back.

It will be hard work but it will be worth it. As a token of thanks, you will earn a FREE annual park pass if you volunteer for one full six-hour day!

Wear work clothing such as leather gloves/boots, long sleeves/pants and eye-protective glasses. Feel free to bring your own equipment (loppers, chainsaws, spin-trimmers). Use of your equipment is at your own risk, and Allen County Parks is not responsible for any damage to personal equipment.

For more information, contact Natalie Haley (nhaley@allencountyparks.org) or Jeff Ormiston (jormiston@allencountyparks.org) or call the Nature Center at (260) 449-3180.
